The EASTERN CONNECTICUT RECORDER SOCIETY welcomes you to our 24th season of recorder playing. Here is a great opportunity to improve your skills and make beautiful music with others in a warm, supportive atmosphere.
Meetings are held monthly, usually the second Saturday of the month, September through June. Every month we have a visiting “coach,” a professional musician specializing in recorder music, who conducts us in music that is always interesting, stimulating, and accessible to a variety of playing levels.
In 2024-2025 monthly either "in person/hybrid" or Zoom sessions will take place on Saturday "Play In". If you are a current member, please consider paying your member fee in early so that we can secure the coaches we enjoy for these sessions.

THE current plan for 2024-2025 Our meetings will be hybrid or , January and February on Zoom only. Come to Middlefield and play in person if you can, or join in via Zoom if you can’t. January and February will by Zoom only. This will eliminate winter driving worries and also also let us have coaches from other than our immediate area. There is a special rate for those who want to attend the Zoom only sessions. Contact Betty Monahan at betmon1@comcast.net ECRS Music Director Larry Zukof is lining up some wonderful coaches for our session.
EARLY GROUP will be meeting via Zoom, during the week preceding the session, providing a preview of the morning’s music, with a focus on technique and sight reading. It is aimed at the less experienced, but all are invited to participate. Maxanne will schedule the zoom sessions monthly before the Saturday reading sessions. Questionnaires having indicated that all enjoyed getting the music ahead of time, ECRS will provide the music by e-mail to members ahead of the play date.
For Live sessions, we also have A MENTORING PROGRAM for those who feel they might wish to sit beside and share a part with a more experienced player.
